eMountain Communications introduces new Web hosting, e-mail, and e-commerce services(Elgin, Ill.) Jan 7, 2000eMountain Communications this week announced a wide-range of personal and corporate electronic services now available. In addition to its ClearViewNet national filtered Internet service, eMountain now offers basic Web site hosting, Web site design, e-commerce solutions, basic and secure e-mail services, supplementary e-mail accounts, listservs, domain name registration, and Internet strategy development. Later this year eMountain will also offer video conferencing/audio and video streaming services.
For many people, the Internet is a complex technological medium, said Michael Addison, eMountains project director. Often they seek advice from friends or colleagues on how to communicate electronically or how to get a Web presence. We are excited to be able to offer these new services in addition to ClearViewNet.
Internet access. Individuals or organizations agencies wanting Internet access that adheres to family values can subscribe to ClearViewNet, eMountains flagship service. ClearViewNet offers national Internet access while screening out sites and search results that promote hate, violence, pornography, gambling, cheating, and other objectionable material. The screening process is dynamic; technicians work around the clock to filter out the latest undesirable content. This fee-based ministry is $19.95/month for unlimited access, $9.95/month for 10 hours.
Basic Web hosting. eMountain will host Web sites for individuals and organizations. The basic plan for $4.95/month includes five megabytes of storage space, daily backup, unlimited loading access, unlimited traffic, and online statistics to monitor site usage. The $12.95 enhanced plan includes an additional five megabytes of storage space and two e-mail accounts.
Web design. eMountain will coordinate all aspects of Web site development, from concept through coding and uploading.
E-commerce. eMountain will design, implement, and host e-commerce sites for individuals and organizations looking to sell products, receive conference registrations, or take donations online using encrypted Web servers. This service also can be set up to host the encrypted pages of Web sites that have their unencrypted pages hosted elsewhere. Additional features include secure e-mail notification of orders for distribution, statistical data on products, and the collection and distribution of funds.
Basic and secure E-mail services. Individual e-mail accounts are $2.95/month. A block of five accounts is $12.95/month; a block of 10 is $24.95/month (this service requires subscribers to have an Internet connection). Secure e-mail accounts, for safely concluding business transactions, donations, or registrations, are also available.
Supplementary e-mail accounts. Additional e-mail accounts are available for families and organizations that already have Internet service but not enough e-mail accounts.
Listservs. This technology allows messages sent by any member of the online listserv group to receive each message posted, providing members a chat and information sharing environment while removing the need for each person to maintain his or her own group address book. Public and private lists are available. Messages are archived on the Web for referral.
Domain registration. eMountain will register and house your domain name until your site is ready for the Web.
Internet strategy development. eMountain consults with groups to develop a Web strategy that will define everything from target audience to site content.
Video conferencing/audio and video streaming. Coming this year will be state-of-the-art video conferencing, complete with white board drawing capabilities, and audio and video streaming. Powerpoint presentations can also be converted to the Web for use by members or customers.
