Florida Insurance Policies

As a HIPAA eligible enrollee, you are:

Guaranteed the right to purchase an individual insurance policy from any insurance company offering individual coverage;
Given the choice of at least two policies with similar benefits available to everyone else; and
Are not subject to any pre-existing condition exclusion periods or elimination riders.

To be HIPAA eligible in Florida, you must:

Have 18 months of continuous creditable coverage, with at least the last day under the Brethren Ministers Group; and
Not be eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or a group plan; and
Apply for health insurance for which you are HIPAA eligible within 63 days of losing your prior coverage; and
Not have health insurance.

Note: If you know your group coverage is about to end, you can apply for coverage for which you will be HIPAA eligible.

Florida provides an insurance program for uninsured children under age 19 called Florida KidCare.
